The Process Working Groups objective is to show the best practice process for the design and selection of Passive Fire Penetrations Products.
These processes will be reflective of the Product Standards and System Classifications.
Objective
The Process Working Groups objective is to develop good practice processes for the descriptive selection of Passive Fire Systems that allow Products to be selected. These processes will be reflective of the Product Standards and System Classifications.
To achieve this the processes need to follow the whole golden thread for:
We could call this a ‘System Approach’ solution. The founding principle must be creating safe places using a single version of the truth that is
Descriptive, Transparent, Flexible, Evidential, Simple, Digital
The process will need to be reflective of the descriptive (Descriptive means describing the condition. i.e. when you go to the doctors with an aliment and the condition is assessed and described in the correct language to allow the prescription to be sort):
Technical Quality Assurance – 5 points that can be applied to all products that have passive fire seals and will be reflective of all the building regulations considerations. This allows the prescription to be given by a product manufacturer or a systems designer.
Technical Quality Control During The Construction Phase
The 5 QA points should ultimately lead to Technical Quality Control during the construction phase. The 7 points for QC are :
There are also sub-flows which will also be considered that include:
A Code of Practice, a RACI and a product plan of works has also been produced (WIP) as part of the industry collaboration to assist in the plan of works. This process will be similar in principle to CIBSE Code M (commissioning Management).
